Impact Story: Your purchase not only supports local women in recovery, but it also supports coffee producers by providing market access, in addition to collaborating on development projects, gender equality initiatives, and quality improvement programs in Tanzania.
Farm Impact: This women-produced lot comes from the Hezya AMCOS in Tanzania’s Mbozi region, where nearly 300 smallholders grow Bourbon, N39, Kent, and local varieties at 1,590–1,670 MASL. AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies) manage 95% of Tanzania’s coffee production, and smallholders must be members to access support for production, processing, storage, transport, marketing, and government aid. The Hezya group is part of the Usawa Kahawa Project, established in 2021 to promote gender equity in coffee. Through the project, women receive training in cultivation and financial decision-making, supported by local gender champions. Hezya AMCOS also hosts a Shamba Darasa Model Farm, showcasing best practices and empowering women to lead by example. This lot represents both high-quality production and meaningful community-driven change.
In AA's Big Book, particularly "How It Works" on page 59, the phrase "We stood at the Turning Point" describes the moment when alcoholics, unable to quit on their own, decide to completely surrender their lives and wills to a Higher Power. This turning point involves seeking "protection and care with complete abandon" and represents a pivotal decision to pursue a spiritual solution to alcoholism rather than rely on their own failing will power.
